Over the past 20 years, Rita has built a career that combines experience in the private sector and public service, articulating legal solutions with strategic vision and sensitivity to social impact. She is admitted to practice law in both Mexico and New York.
In the private sector, she worked at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, as well as at other firms in Mexico, specializing in corporate, civil, and commercial law, as well as complex financial transactions, including bond issuances. He has advised national and international companies on strategic transactions and regulatory compliance, and has participated in relevant projects such as the compilation of laws arising from the energy reform in Mexico.
In the public sector, she has worked at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, in the international arena, participating in matters related to multilateral investment agreements and treaties to avoid double taxation. Subsequently, as a specialized advisor to the government of Quintana Roo, she implemented public policies to address the challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting high-impact regulatory and operational measures.
Her experience has also been leveraged in international cooperation. She has collaborated with the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) in support of the Mexican Judiciary, contributing to the development of guidelines for conducting judicial hearings in labor matters. Additionally, with USAID support, she led regulatory improvement projects aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of municipalities through the design and implementation of digital platforms that facilitate communities of practice, promote administrative efficiency, and reinforce government transparency.
